The microspheres consist of a polymer shell encapsulating a gas. The pre-expanded microspheres are used as light weight fillers in many application areas. In these applications the combination of the extremely low density, the rheological and the resilience properties of the microspheres pro-vide valuable characteristics to articles produced. Elasticity All EXPANCEL ® grades are highly resilient. The expanded microspheres are easy to compress. When the pressure is released the microspheres regain their original volume. Thanks to this resiliency the EXPANCEL ® microspheres can withstand several cycles of loading/unloading without breaking. This is very important when the microspheres are used in shock absorbent materials but also when pumping the microspheres, alone or in various mixtures. Chemical resistance EXPANCEL ® microspheres can be used in contact with many chemicals, including solvents without discoloration or negative effects on ex-pansion or other properties. EXPANCEL ® microspheres are used in a wide variety of commercial applications as a light weight filler. The microspheres can be added either in the pre-expanded form, alone or in combination with other fillers, or as unexpanded microspheres. In addition to the weight reduction, which will save a lot of work, energy and transportation costs, paints get better applicability. Expanded microspheres are also combined with polyurethanes in coatings to reduce the density, at the same time improving shock, vibration and sound absorption properties. In addition to their weight reducing property the microspheres give the paints better applicability and lower their tendency to splash when the paints are applied with a roller. In polyurethane coatings, the microspheres improve shock-, vibration- and sound absorption. Low after-sinking and shrinkage is the result when microspheres are added to underbody coatings. Wet, expanded microsphere. Used as a light weight filler in polyurethane coatings and underbody coatings. Offers rheological and resilience properties, high resiliency, easy compression, ability to withstand several cycles of loading/unloading without breaking, good chemical resistance and good thermo-mechanical properties. Provides very low density, reduction of weight, easy application and low after-sinking and shrinkage. Improves shock-, vibration- and sound absorption. Lowers tendency to splash when paints are applied with a roller.
