ethyl acetate
Soluble in alcohols, esters, ketones, glycol ethers, glycol ether acetates, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, petroleum ether and turpentine
Insoluble in methanol
Light and ageing-resistant soft acrylic resin for plasticizing
cellulose nitrate and chlorine-containing binders. It gives films of
high flexibility and excellent adhesion.
Solution in ethyl acetate of a butyl acrylate-vinyl isobutyl ether copolymer
In the ratios usually required, Acromal 700 L is compatible to different
degrees with cellulose nitrate, vinyl chloride polymers such as the Laroflex ® MP grades, polyvinyl ethers, e. g. the Lutonal ® A grades, Lutonal M 40, polyacrylates, e. g. Acronal 4 F, natural resins, e. g. rosin, plasticizers, e. g. castor oil, the Palatinol ® grades, Plastomoll ® DOA, the Palamoll ® grades and Plastigen ® G.
Used on its own, Acronal 700 L gives sticky coatings of low strength. It is therefore combined with other binders for which it acts as a plasticizer. As Acronal 700 L is not volatile, its plasticizing effect does not change with time. The product can therefore be used in many paints and coatings in place of the plasticizers and plasticizer-resin mixtures otherwise used.
Paints and coatings containing Acronal 700 L also adhere to problem substrates such as aluminium alloy and brass, are resistant to yellowing
and withstand boiling water.
Acronal 700 L is used particularly in combination with cellulose nitrate for paper and film lacquers, adhesives and sealing wax, lacquers and laminating adhesives for aluminium foil, lacquers for aluminium alloy, bronzing lacquers and paints for plastics.
In combination with chlorine-containing binders such as Laroflex ® MP, it is used in saponification-resistant coatings for various substrates e. g. metals, concrete and fibre-reinforced cement.
With suitable film-forming agents, Acronal 700 L improves the adhesion of primers.
Light and ageing-resistant soft butyl acrylate-vinyl isobutyl ether copolymer in ethyl acetate. Used alone to give sticky coatings of low strength or in combination with other binders as a plasticizer in many paints and coatings. Provides high flexibility, adhesion to problem substrates such as aluminium alloy and brass and resistance to yellowing. Used particularly in combination with cellulose nitrate for paper and film lacquers, lacquers for aluminium foil, aluminium alloy, bronzing lacquers and paints for plastics and in combination with chlorine-containing binders in saponification-resistant coatings for various substrates such as metals, concrete and fibre-reinforced cement. Offers compatibility with cellulose nitrate, vinyl chloride polymers, polyvinyl ethers, polyacrylates, natural resins, rosin, plasticizers and castor oil.
