Due to its interfacial activity this additive orients at the paint surface.There,it is crosslinked into the surface of
the polymer network due to its OH-functionality.
Once crosslinked into the paint surface by its reactive groups,the properties obtained are more permanent.
In many paint systems BYK-Silclean 3700 leads to an increase of hydrophobicity and
oleophobicity.Water-and oil-repellency are dramatically improved.
Additionally,this additive reduces dirt adhesion and improves the ease of cleaning the
coated surface.
This additive improves substrate wetting,leveling,surface slip,water resistance (blush
resistance),anti-blocking properties,and weather resistance.Therefore,we
recommend BYK-Silclean 3700 be initially evaluated in the formulation without
previously used leveling additives.If additional leveling is required,the leveling
additives should be added in a second step.
The additive can also be used to improve anti-graffiti and tape release properties.
It reacts into the following binder systems:two-pack polyurethane,alkyd-melamine,
polyester-melamine,acrylic-melamine,acrylic-epoxy combinations and phenolic
resins.

Used as a surface additive to improve ease of surface cleaning in solvent-based coatings and topcoats containing OH-groups such as a furniture coatings. Reduces dirt adhesion. Improves water-and oil-repellency, substrate wetting, leveling, surface slip, water resistance (blush resistance), anti-blocking properties, weather resistance, anti-graffiti and tape release properties. Reacts into two-pack polyurethane, alkyd-melamine, polyester-melamine, acrylic-melamine, acrylic-epoxy combinations and phenolic resins.
