Solubility aliphatic hydrocarbons solublealiphatic hydrocarbons soluble aromatic hydrocarbons soluble alcohols insoluble / partially soluble esters soluble ketones insoluble / soluble glycol ethers insoluble glycol ether acetates insoluble Decalin / Tetralin soluble water insoluble Properties Baysilone®-Paint Additive M 51 is a very effective flow-promoter and appreciably reduces surface tension. lt acts as an antifloating agent and can be used as an "antisilicone", i.e. it counteracts defects in the surface of paint films which may be caused by silicones, e.g. in polishes. Applications Baysilone®-Paint Additive M 51 can be used both in systems which dry physically and in chemically curing systems. Its binder compatibility is limited. Addition rate 0.01 - 0.05% based on solids content. Recoatability Direct loss of adhesion between base and top coat or of recoatability is not generally likely to be observed. Baysilone®-Paint Additive M 51 may, however, intensify such defects, the causes of which include over-baking. We therefore recommend that the product is used primarily in top coats.
