Properties Borchi® Gel VP 9628 improves the rheological properties of aqueous coating systems. lt allows optimal adjustment of flow and levelling properties, improves film structure and minimizes spatter on use of emulsion paints, lacquers and printing inks. The optimization of flow characteristics results in a clear improvement in optical properties, particularly in high-gloss emulsion systems. The adverse effect of polar, water-soluble substances such as alcohols and glycols on conventional polyurethane thickeners has been minimized with Borchi® Gel VP 9628. Borchi® Gel VP 9628 can easily be combined with other polyurethane thickeners and various celluloses and acrylic thickeners. Its thickening effect cannot be properly assessed until it has matured for at least three hours. Applications Borchi® Gel VP 9628 can be used in pure acrylic, styrene-acrylic and styrene-butadiene dispersions. Use of Borchi® Gel VP 9628 may also prove advantageous in water-emulsifiabie 2-component systems and air- and oven-drying paints. Mixing and addition rate Borchi® Gel VP 9628 is simple to use and can be incorporated at any stage of the manufacturing process. We recommend that it is added after the pigment and the filler dispersion and before reduction. In sensitive systems or under mixing conditions with a low shear rate, dilution with water may further facilitate homogeneous mixing. The recommended addition rate is 0.1 - 2% by weight in the supply form relative to binder. Higher addition rates are usually necessary for the manufacture of gloss paints. The precise addition rate should always be determined beforehand in trials. Polyurethane-based thickener, aqueous emulsion in water. Improves application reliability.
