The key benefits are: allows formulation of high gloss systems very good clarity excellent blocking resistance very good resistance to organic and water-based materials good pigment wetting properties GLASCOL LS26 C are aqueous microemulsions based on styrene-acrylic copolymer. GLASCOL LS26 C are specialty resins designed for use in water-based inks and overprint varnishes. The main recommended applications are inks for paper/corrugated paper. Further uses of GLASCOL LS26 C include over print varnishes on paper and plastic substrates. In inks it is recommended that GLASCOL LS26 C is used as the let-down vehicle. Optimum color development can be achieved when using a highly hydrophilic resins as the pigment grinding vehicle. A very suitable grinding resin for this purpose is GLASCOL LS16, also offered by Ciba Specialty Chemicals. The slip and abrasion resistance of formulations based on GLASCOL LS26 C may significantly be improved by addition of a wax emulsion such as GLASWAX E1. Since GLASCOL LS26 C are microemulsions, the liquid products exhibit some resilient properties which can be of importance for practical use: e.g., improved stability against high shear stress The products demonstrate excellent viscosity/pH stability in the pH range 7.8-9.0 but become insoluble when the pH drops below 7.0. Aqueous microemulsion based on styrene-acrylic copolymer. Used in water-based inks for paper/corrugated paper and in over print varnishes on paper and plastic substrates. Can be used as a let-down vegicle in combination with highly hydrophilic resins as the pigment grinding vehicle to offer optimum colour development. Allows formulation of high gloss systems. Provides very good clarity, blocking resistance and resistance to organic and water-based materials and good pigment wetting properties. Offers some resilient properties such as improved stability against high shear stress.
