Suitable formulations may be based on: · acrylics and copolymers · epoxyacrylates · 2-pack epoxy / polyamine or -amides · alkyd emulsions · 1- or 2-pack polyurethane emulsions. The product offers the opportunity to formulate coating systems with superior corrosion resistance, whereby inorganic pigments such as zinc phosphates, modified zinc phosphates, barium metaborate etc. should be replaced by a combination of extender pigments/fillers (such as calcium carbonate) and IRGACOR 1405. In addition to long term corrosion protection, IRGACOR 1405 also efficiently protects against flash rust and weld seam corrosion. The amount of IRGACOR 1405 required for optimum performance should be determined in trials covering a concentration range. The product is best incorporated into the coating formulation by grinding or dispersing it together with the other millbase ingredients (e.g. as part of the pigment paste).
