*HQHUDO IRGACOR 1930 is an organic corrosion inhibitor specifically designed
for use in water based industrial and decorative coatings to give long
term corrosion protection to ferrous surfaces.
IRGACOR 1930 is recommended for use in water based primers and
direct to metal monocoat systems.
Suitable formulations may be based on:
· acrylics and copolymers
· epoxyacrylates
· 2-pack epoxy / polyamine or amides
· alkyd emulsions
· 1- or 2-pack polyurethane emulsions
The product offers the opportunity to formulate coating systems with
superior corrosion resistance. Inorganic anticorrosive pigments such
as zinc phosphates, modified zinc phosphates, barium metaborates
etc. should be replaced by a combination of extender pigments/fillers
(such as calcium carbonate) and IRGACOR 1930.
Additional Formulation Recommendations
The product is best incorporated into the coating formulation by
grinding it together with the other millbase ingredients (e.g. as part of
the pigment paste).
In addition to long term corrosion protection, IRGACOR 1930 also
efficiently protects against flash rust and along weld seam corrosion
effects.
The amount of IRGACOR 1930 required for optimum performance
should be determined in trials covering a concentration range.
