Ceridust 3910 is an especially finegrain
micropowder based on amide
wax; it can be processed with ease
due to its small particle size. Both
wax micropowders exhibit slip which
is advantageous in deformation and
sanding work.
For aqueous systems, it is advisable to
stir Ceridust 9615 A and Ceridust 3910
first into a water/alcohol mixture so
that more intensive wetting occurs.
Ceridust 3910
Ceridust 3910 has very fine particles.
It can be stirred slowly direct into the
paint system (normally 1% to 2%).
The stirring time should be at least
10 minutes. Subsequent thickening of
such dispersions may occur. In this
case the viscosity can be lowered by
stirring again thoroughly.
Amide wax. Acts as a degassing agent and permits the benzoin concentration to be reduced in many applications. Due to its high, relatively sharp drop point of 140 °C this wax remains very finely distributed as a discrete particle in the powder coating during and after the extrusion process. This temperature is exceeded in the stoving process, so the amide wax melts; its very low melting viscosity (10 mPas at 150 °C) results in the formation of capillaries through which entrapped air can escape before the powder coating is cured.
