Polyether solution in water / butyldiglycol
DSX® 2000 is specifically designed to improve high
brush drag (ICI viscosity) in modern coatings. Used
either alone or blended with any other DSX®
associative thickeners it offers complete control of
the rheological properties of a coating with the
following advantages:
excellent application hiding
excellent flow and leveling properties
excellent resistance properties
excellent roller application and spatter resistance
Systems containing DSX® 2000 exhibit very good shelf life.
DSX® 2000 is recommended as the sole thickener
for coating systems which contain a high
hydrophobic surface area such as low pigmented,
small particle size, high gloss to semi-gloss coatings.
Blending of DSX® 2000 with other DSX® rheology
modifiers in other coating systems can be used to
achieve a desired rheological profile.
Application properties - smooth, high hiding, patter resistant coatings can be achieved.
Performance properties - good gloss development with superior scrub and
water resistance.
Economics - supplied at high solids yet low viscosity.
DSX® 2000 is usually added as the final ingredient
in a formulation. However, in cases where there is
limited agitation at this stage, addition of 10-20% of
the total quantity of DSX® 2000 just after the grind
stage can aid incorporation of the thickener.
In paint formulations, typical use levels can vary from
1-3% of paint, depending on the system being
thickened.
