DEHYDRAN 1293 is a defoamer and deaerating
agent for use in purely aqueous coatings and those
coatings containing cosolvents based on polymer
emulsions and applied by curtain coating, spraying,
dipping, rolling or brushing on wood, wood products
or metal.
Solution of a special modified polydimethyl siloxane.
Due to its long-term defoaming effect
DEHYDRAN 1293 has proved to be suitable in
emulsion and suspension polymerization, particularly
in the manufacture of PVC, vinyl acetate and acrylic
emulsions. DEHYDRAN 1293 may be used during
polymerization and monomer stripping.
Emulsion paints based on pure acrylates and acrylic copolymers.
Wood coatings based on acrylates and PU-emulsions.
The optimum dosage depends on the individual
formula and should be determined by appropriate
tests, but it is generally in the region of 0.5 - 3.0%,
calculated on the total batch. To ensure maximum
performance DEHYDRAN 1293 should be added to
the batch as the last ingredient by stirring intensively.
In the manufacture of paints, part of the total
defoamer quantity may be added to the mill base or
to the premix.
