Non-ionic wetting agent for aqueous coatings.
DISPONIL 286 is suitable for various applications in
the field of aqueous coatings:
as a wetting agent and stabilizer in emulsion paints,
as an emulsifier in the manufacture of tinting pastes and pigment preparations
Emulsion Paints
On account of its chemical structure this product is
most suitable for wetting pigments in the
manufacture of emulsion paints. Its application also
results in a thorough wetting of the substrates to be
painted.
Furthermore, tests have shown that small
concentrations added to highly pigmented interior
paints are sufficient to prevent brushes and rollers
from becoming sticky.
It has been found that an optimum wetting and
dispersing performance can be obtained if the
wetting agent is used together with
COLORSPERSE A and COLORSPERSE N, one of
our special dispersing agents for pigments in
aqueous coatings. At the same time, the addition of
this product leads to an increased stability of paint
viscosity and a improved suspension of pigments.
Tinting Pastes / Pigment Preparations
Due to its good compatibility and emulsifying
properties, DISPONIL 286 is suitable for the
production of tinting pastes which can be simply
incorporated into aqueous and non-aqueous
coatings without pigment shock. Obviously as
different pigment types will have a radical effect on
the final properties of the tint base, the optimum
dosage of DISPONIL 286 will vary within broad
limits. Laboratory tests should therefore be
undertaken.
The quantity required is between 0.1 - 0.5%,
calculated on the finished paint.
