EDENOL DCHP is readily compatible with polyvinyl chloride and its copolymers, so that fairly high proportions of it can be used with them. Articles plasticized with EDENOL DCHP have greater hardness, increased strength, better oil and water resistance, greater heat and light stability, better electrical properties, etc. than, for instance, those plasticized with DOP. Other advantages are the lower migration tendency, the fact that it does not exude, low volatility, resistance to some solvents, more particularly hydrocarbons, and to detergents. EDENOL DCHP is compatible with polyvinyl chlori- de, polyvinyl chloride copolymers, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate butyrate, polystyrene, polymethyl- acrylate, chlorinated rubber, ethyl cellulose and also with most of the customary synthetic resins such as alkyds, phenolics, urea formaldehyde resins etc. EDENOL DCHP is, however, not compatible with acetyl cellulose. EDENOL DCHP is the phthalate ester of a cyclic alcohol; it is mainly used as a plasticizer for vinyl polymers, nitrocellulose and C.A.B. It is miscible in any proportion with almost all solvents and plasticizers commonly used for processing synthetic resins, except with plasticizers used for cellulose acetate. EDENOL DCHP may be used in coatings based on the above binders. As the plasticizer allows the heat sealing process to be applied, foil lacquers, in particular transparent paper varnishes, are among the most important fields of application. Di-cyclohexyl phthalate. Used as a migration-resistant plasitcizer in foil lacquers, in particular transparent paper varnishes. Gives compatibility with polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl chloride copolymers, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate butyrate, polystyrene, polymethylacrylate, chlorinated rubber, ethyl cellulose and with most of the customary synthetic resins such as alkyds, phenolics and urea formaldehyde resins.
