It is supplied as a low viscous liquid and is convenient to handle, even during the winter months with low temperatures. The product is also low smelling and ready for immediate use. APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES Nonionic thickeners such as NUVIS FX 1035 play a significant role in controlling rheology before, during and after the application of dispersion paints. Compared to conventional thickeners, NUVIS FX 1035 increases the high shear viscosity which means: - improved brushability - higher film build - improved edge covering - alkyd like appearance The low shear viscosity is also reduced, resulting in: - improved flow and levelling - improved appearance Paints made with NUVIS FX 1035 have the following advantages as opposed to those made with cellulosic thickeners: - higher degree of water resistance - increased scrub resistance - higher resistance to biological degradation Roller spattering is reduced even when the product is used in combination with a cellulosic thickener, and higher gloss levels are obtained in gloss emulsion paints than those obtained with polyacrylates or cellulosic thickeners. NUVIS FX 1035 can be used as the sole thickener in all types of dispersion paints including: - high PVC dispersions - flat dispersions - semi-gloss dispersions - gloss dispersions Whilst NUVIS FX 1035 is a modification NUVIS FX 1010 it still has the same wide field of application. It is compatible with most dispersion paints based on polyacrylic, polyvinyl acetate homo polymers, polystyrene acrylic, polystyrene butadiene copolymers and terpolymers. Ant it may be used in combination with cellulosic thickeners, however, the effect on paint stability should be thoroughly checked. The product is also totally compatible with pigment dispersants: e.g. NUOSPERSE FX 504. In formulations with glycol based universal colorants, a combination of NUVIS FX 1035 with the polymeric surfactant NUOSPERSE FA 607 improves the colorant acceptance and stability and results in optimal rheological properties. FEATURE -> CONSEQUENCE Based on a polyether polyurethane -> provides longterm viscosity stability -> improves weathering -> less sensitive to hydrolysis -> decreased water sensitivity Increases mid and high shear viscosity -> more alkyd-like rheology -> higher film build and opacity -> improved flow and levelling characteristics Non-plastic flow -> reduces roller spattering DOSAGE NUVIS FX 1035 may be added at any time during the paint manufacture. For post-addition, in most cases the product should be diluted with water or a mixture of water propylene glycol or water butyl glycol. The percentage of propylene glycol or butyl glycol depends on the desired viscosity. NUVIS FX 1035 can be diluted as follows: 1. 3% a.m. 8.6% NUVIS FX 1035 91.4% water 2. 5% a.m. 14.3% NUVIS FX 1035 85.7% water 3. 12.5% a.m. 35.7% NUVIS FX 1035 32.1% propylene glycol 32.2% water A concentration between 0.3 – 3% of the product will be sufficient, when used as a sole thickener. In combination with cellulosic thickeners, it is recommended to use a ration of approx. 15 parts of NUVIS FX 1035 to 1 part cellulosic thickener. However, it is advised to determine the optimum dosage for each case individually. Nonionic polyurethane thickener used in aqueous systems. Low smelling and ready for immediate use.
