APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES SER-AD FK 321 can be applied to various paint systems, such as alkyd melamine baking enamels, acrylic baking enamels etc. In air-drying systems, SER-AD FK 321 might cause after-tacking owing to its cationic character. This renders the product therefore, less suitable for application to these paint systems. In many cases the electric resistance of paint is too high to enable it to be sprayed electrostatically. However, with the addition of SER-AD FK 321 the resistance of the paint is not only reduced but can also be adjusted to the required degree. Also, when SER-AD FK 321 is used, the application of high percentages of a polar solvent for the same purpose will be superfluous. DOSAGE The application amount of SER-AD FK 321 is normally between 0.1 – 2.5% calculated on the total amount of paint. However, the actual quantity strongly depends on the nature of the paint system in question. SER-AD FK 321 can be added during any stage of paint manufacture. EXAMPLE The application of SER AD-FK 321 to an acrylic baking enamel: Without auxiliary product: 50,000 k.Ohm With 0.2% of SERAD FK 321: 6,500 k.Ohm With 1.0% of SER-AD FK 321: 700 k.Ohm Effective auxiliary for reducing the resistance of paints to be sprayed electrostatically.
