It reduces the minimum film formation temperature (MFT) and improves the scrub resistance of the paint layer. SER-AD FX 510 also has good hydrolytic stability properties and a very mild odour. SER-AD FX 510 can be applied to practically all usual dispersion systems, e.g.: polyacrylate homopolymers, -copolymers, polyvinyl acetate homopolymers, -copolymers, -terpolymers and polystyrene butadiene copolymers. SER-AD FX 510 is applied to high PVC, medium PVC, as well as low PVC dispersion paints. e.g., gloss dispersion paints. SER-AD FX 510 is an auxiliary that when added to dispersions and dispersion paints, reduces the minimum film forming temperature and stimulates the coalescing of dispersion particles during the film formation. As a result the mechanical properties of the paint layer are improved, in particular the scrub resistance. Therefore, it is usually the influence on the scrub resistance, which is taken as a criterion for the determination of the effectivity of the coalescing agent. SER-AD FX 510 is a non-foaming liquid with a good hydrolytic stability and a low odour. The product retains these properties both in the paint and the paint layer. In some dispersions the freeze-thaw stability is negatively influenced by coalescing agents; in these cases we recommend to combine SER-AD FX 510 with SER-AD FN 1566 in the proportion of approx. 10:3. SER-AD FX 510 can also be added to the paint in combination with e.g., anti-foaming agent SERDAS GBR or with white spirit. Whilst SER-AD FX 510 is applicable during any phase of the dispersion or dispersion paint production, it must be dosed under effective stirring. The percentage to be added is strongly dependent on the binding agent (MFT), the paint type, as well as the application. In general the concentration lies between 0.3 - 2.5% of SER-AD FX 510 calculated on the entire amount of dispersion paint. However, the exact amount to be added should be determined experimentally.
