SER-AD FX 609 ensures extremely fine pigment dispersions for use in aqueous systems. APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES SER-AD FX 609 is a neutralised salt of a polymeric carboxylic acid, specially designed for use as a pigment dispersing agent with maximum stabilising properties against flocculation. These properties make SER-AD FX 609 of special interest for application in aqueous suspensions with mineral substances such as calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide. Using SER-AD FX 609 it is possible to obtain very fine suspensions with small grains. SER-AD FX 609 has a deflocculating power and reduces the viscosity of the pigment paste and can therefore even disperse highly concentrated pastes. The pastes remain stable and low viscous over time, even if stirring of the paste should not be continued. SER-AD FX 609 is insensitive to hydro-lyses and does not depolymerize. SER-AD FX 609 is intended for pigmented applications in which the size of at least 80% of the particles is less than one micron. FEATURE -> CONSEQUENCE Highest pigment loading -> reduce quantity of water required Insensitive to hydrolyses -> provides long-term stability Reduced sedimentation -> easy handling Optimised rheological profile after storage -> no gel effect Optimised pigment surface degree -> maximum fineness -> protection against flocculation of the particles DOSAGE The quantity of SER-AD FX 609 to be added should be determined experimentally and depends on the surface characteristics of the pigments, fillers and the milling method. We suggest a determination of the maximum applicable quantity by means of laboratory trials, e.g. by determine the viscosity-curve of the pastes at various percentages of SER-AD FX 609. It is recommended to start by mixing SER-AD FX 609 with water, and subsequently add the pigment or filler. Whilst the following dosages have been determined by means of laboratory tests, they should still only be regarded as guideline figures, however, they do represent the required quantity of SER-AD FX 609 i.e., of the product as such, calculated on the solid pigment or filler. Titanium dioxide: 1.5…2.5% m of SER-AD FX 609 Iron oxide yellow: 2.5…3.5% m of SER-AD FX 609 Chalk: 0.1…1.0% m of SER-AD FX 609 Calcite: 0.2…0.6% m of SER-AD FX 609 Dolomite: 0.2…0.5% m of SER-AD FX 609 Synthetic Calcium-carbonate: 0.2…0.5% m of SER-AD FX 609 Pigment dispersing agent designed for use in filler, pigment concentrates. Ensures extremely fine pigment dispersions for use in aqueous systems with maximum stabilising properties against flocculation.
