SERDAS Anti-foaming agents SERDAS GBO
Anti-foaming Agent
GENERAL INFORMATION
SERDAS GBO is a low-odour defoamer with excellent emulsifying properties for aqueous coating systems. The product is also BGA-approved for indirect food applications.
APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES
SERDAS GBO is applied to dispersion paints, waterborne coatings, including electrophoreses lacquers, paper coatings and various other waterborne systems. It has also been noted as very effective in acrylic dispersions. SERDAS GBO displays excellent anti-foaming and defoaming properties in various aqueous systems. The product is easily dispersed, even in systems with poor emulsifying properties. The low odour in comparison with most traditional defoamers makes SERDAS GBO extremely useful for application in odourless dispersion paints. SERDAS GBO is BGA approved according to paragraph XXXVI and XIV. Feature -> Consequence Mineral oil-based silicon-free -> minimum risk of surface defects and loss of adhesion -> works in a wide range of waterborne systems Low viscosity -> easy handling Low toxicity -> various FDA and BGA approvals
DOSAGE
It is recommended to add at least half of the quantity of SERDAS GBO to the mill-base formulation and the rest during the letdown stage. SERDAS GBO may also be added as a 10% emulsion in water; this emulsion is stable for approx. 24 hours. The exact concentration to be used depends on the individual conditions. In general a rate of 0.2 – 0.5% SERDAS GBO calculated on the total quantity of the coating will give excellent results.
Low-odour nonionic defoamer with excellent emulsifying properties for aqueous coating systems. Approved for indirect food applications. Applied to dispersion paints, including electrophoreses lacquers, paper coatings. Effective in acrylic dispersions. Provides minimum risk of surface defects and loss of adhesion.
