Crayvallac PA4X20
Crayvallac PA4X20 is a pre-activated amide wax rheology modifier dispersed in a mixture of xylene and alcohols for sedimentation and sag control. Compared to Crayvallac PA3X20, this product is specifically designed for coating applications demanding a high degree of transparency or gloss. Crayvallac PA4X20 is best added to solvent-based industrial coatings following the pigment grind stage, where it provides good control of sedimentation and sag. When using a high-speed disperser, it is recommended that Crayvallac PA4X20 be added during the final stages of production, when the coating has been partially thinned to a viscosity of approximately 600 - 800 mPa.s (ICI cone and plate at 10000s -1) and the peripheral speed reduced to approximately 4 ms-1. Too high a speed results in destruction of the active components.
Pre-activated amide wax dispersed in mixture of xylene and alcohols.
Used in industrial wood finishes like PU (alkyd or acrylic based), nitrocellulose and acid curing. Used for transparency in clear varnishes and topcoats. Post-added to solvent-based industrial coatings. Provides very good control of sedimentation and sag. Easy to incorporate. Imparts shear-thinning rheology with thixotropic viscosity recovery.
