Solid Epoxy Resin for High Performance Powder Coatings
D.E.R.* 6508 solid epoxy resin has
been developed for fusion bonded
epoxy coatings for demanding
functional coating applications. It also
has excellent chemical and corrosion
resistance coupled with outstanding
heat performance.
D.E.R. 6508 resin is a 2-functional
epoxy resin which has been
chemically modified to allow the
formulation of highly crosslinked,
heat resistant systems capable of
withstanding temperatures in excess
of 160°C (320°F). Unlike most other
resins of this type, D.E.R. 6508 resin
is a storage stable, solid material
which is suitable for powder coatings
and processed under normal processing
conditions, and is able to achieve
high performance using commonly
available commercial crosslinkers.
In addition, D.E.R. 6508 solid epoxy
resin is also compatible with
bisphenol-A and novolac-modified
epoxy resins, allowing the formulation
of systems having an optimized
balance of mechanical and thermal
properties while still providing good
corrosion resistance to a wide range
of chemicals.
Powder coatings formulated with
D.E.R. 6508 resin provide:
Cured coatings Tg in excess of 160°C (320°F) with appropriate choice of standard crosslinkers.
Outstanding combination of Tg and mechanical properties.
Excellent solvent resistance.
Optimal physical properties for powder coating production and storage.
2-functional epoxy resin. Used for high performance fusion bonded epoxy coatings for demanding functional coating applications. Provides very good chemical and corrosion resistance and outstanding heat performance.
Offers compatibility with bisphenol-A and novolac-modified epoxy resins, mechanical and thermal properties and good corrosion resistance to a wide range of chemicals.
