Imparts mar- and abrasion resistance by reducing surface friction.
Improves flow-out, wetting and gloss.
Reduces cratering.
Prevents pinholing, orange peel and cissing.
DOW CORNING 55 Additive is the same silicone additive as DOW CORNING®
11 Additive supplied in a water-soluble solvent.
To reduce the coefficient of friction for ink:
Water-based flexographic ink at 0.1-0.2%
To reduce the coefficient of friction for coating:
Water-based wood coating at 0.2-1.0% or as low as less than 0.05%
To reduce the coefficient of friction for paint:
Water-based paint at 0.05-0.2%
To improve mar-resistance for ink:
UV-cured flexographic ink at 0.5-1.0%
To improve mar-resistance for coating:
Water-based wood coating at 0.2-1.0% or as low as less than 0.05%
To improve mar-resistance for paint:
Water-based paint at 0.05-0.2%
To improve leveling for coating:
Water-based automotive refinishing coating at 0.5-1.0% based on solids
Water-based wood coating at 0.1-5.0%
To improve leveling for paint:
Water-based paint at 0.05-0.1% or as high as 1.0%

Reactive silicone glycol surfactant with carbinol functionality. Used to provide leveling, slip and mar resistance. Imparts abrasion resistance by reducing surface friction for water-based and UV-cured flexographic ink, and water-based wood coating, paint and automotive refinishing coating. Improves flow-out, wetting and gloss. Reduces cratering. Prevents pinholing, orange peel and cissing. Can be recoated when used as directed. Does not contaminate.
