manufactured by DuPont Dow Elastomers. Vulcanizates
of Hypalon® are highly resistant to the deteriorating
effects of ozone, oxygen, weather, heat, oil and
chemicals. Hypalon® resists discoloration on exposure
to light, and is widely used in light-colored vulcanizates.
It can be compounded to give excellent
mechanical properties—for example, high tensile
strength and abrasion resistance.

These polymers are manufactured in such a manner
as to produce an elastomer with a completely saturated
backbone and pendant groups suitable for varied
approaches to vulcanization. As a result of this
configuration, vulcanizates of Hypalon® synthetic
rubber are extremely resistant to attack by ozone,
oxygen and weather. In addition, properly prepared
vulcanizates of Hypalon® are outstanding in resistance
to deterioration by heat, oils, and many chemicals and
fluids.
Hypalon® is used in the rubber industry because of its
wide range of unique properties. The properties may

Chlorosulfonated polyethylene synthetic rubber. Used in a variety of protective and decorative coatings. Contains low levels of carbon tetrachloride and chloroform. Offers high resistance to deteriorating effects of ozone, oxygen, weather, heat, oil and chemicals. Gives good mechanical properties (high tensile strength and abrasion resistance) when compounded. Offers good low-temperature flexibility.
