PENTALYN C synthetic resin, a hard, amber colored, thermoplastic resin, is the pentaerythritol (PE) ester of polymerized rosin. Because of the higher softening point and stabilized nature of the modified rosin from which it is made, PENTALYN C synthetic resin has an appreciably higher softening point and greater resistance to oxidation than PE esters of regular rosin. PENTALYN C synthetic resin is used mainly in varnishes, inks, and adhesives, where its hardness, resistance to aging, solubility, and inherent adhesiveness are desirable properties.
High softening point, high refractive index, excellent gloss, good solvency, low solution viscosities, excellent pigment wetting properties.
Compatible with drying oils; alkyd and most other resins; ester type and hydrocarbon waxes; natural, synthetic and reclaimed rubbers. Partially compatible with nitrocellulose and ethylcellulose. Incompatible with cellulose acetate.
