Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons; ink oils; esters; higher ketones; and drying oils
Insoluble in acetone, alcohols and glycols
PENTALYN K synthetic resin, a pentaerythritol ester of dimeric resin acid, is an extremely hard, dark amber colored, thermoplastic resin. Its softening point and solubility make PENTALYN K synthetic resin particularly useful in soft oil varnishes; in flushed colors and resin bonded pigments; and in heat set printing inks.
Very high softening point; high gloss; excellent solubility in low KB solvents; stable toward reactive pigments; fast solvent release.
Compatible in practically useful proportions, with rosin esters, chlorinated paraffin and chlorinated rubber, as well as with natural and synthetic rubbers and polyvinyl chloride. Incompatible with polyvinyl butyral, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, melamine resin, and short oil alkyds.
