EFKA-3031 is compatible with all medium to high-polarity solvent based systems.
Wood finishes: in unsaturated polyesters, e.g. UV-cured, EFKA-3031 improves slip and smoothness of the surface, and does not influence curtain stability when applied by curtain coating. The sensitivity to air-draughts when sprayed or poured will be reduced by EFKA-3031.
Metal coatings: EFKA-3031 improves levelling and mar-resistance and acts as an antiblocking agent. This is particularly advantageous in PUR systems based on hydroxyacrylics. Due to its high surface activity, EFKA-3031 can interfere with intercoat adhesion when recoated without sanding. If air is introduced by the application equipment small amounts of defoamers such as EFKA-2020 and EFKA-2022 should be added.
Addition: 0.1 - 0.3% on total formulation
Organically modified polysiloxane in alkylbenzene. Used as a slip, levelling and antiblocking additive in UV-cured unsaturated polyesters for wood finishes, and in PUR systems based on hydroxyacrylics for metal coatings. Improves mar-resistance. Increases slip and surface smoothness. Prevents cratering. Decreases tendency to floating of pigments. Reduces sensitivity to air-draughts. Offers compatibility with all medium to high-polarity solvent based systems. Does not influence curtain stability. Possesses high surface activity. <br>
Use level: 0.1-0.3% on total formulation.
