BENTONE 34 is an organic derivative of a special smectite. This rheological additive is designed for low to intermediate polarity organic systems.

Tetraallkyl ammonium bentonite. Used as a rheological additive to give high gelling efficiency over a wide range of intermediate and low polarity organic liquids including various hydrocarbon oils, and solvents. Produces reproducible thixotropic consistency over a wide temperature range. Imparts particle suspension, preventing hard settling of pigments and fillers. Offers strong film reinforcing action in organic binder systems. Gives sag resistance without impairing flow and leveling. Controls flooding and floating of colors. Prevents excessive penetration of liquid vehicles into porous substrates. <br>
Applications: interior and exterior paints, stains, tube colors, mastic compounds, asphaltic compositions, and news inks. <br>
Use level: 0.4-2 % based on total system weight.
