BENTONE ® AD
rheological additive
for water-borne automotive and industrial coatings
BENTONE AD rheological additive is an easily
dispersible, highly refined hectorite. BENTONE
AD has been developed for water-borne
automotive base-coats and general industrial
systems. It is particularly suitable for metallic-pigmented
paints.
BENTONE AD provides a shear-thinning
viscosity, exceptional anti-settling and sag
control, across a wide range of application
temperatures, without increasing the mid-shear-rate
viscosity significantly. BENTONE AD imparts
excellent spraying properties and aluminium
pigment alignment. Its controlled particle size
gives a smooth film-appearance and does not
impair gloss.

The typical levels of use for BENTONE AD are
0.5–2.0% by weight, in the formulation. This will
depend upon the desired anti-settling and sag
resistance required.
Easily dispersible, highly refined hectorite. Used as a rheological additive for water-borne automotive and industrial coatings. Provides a shear-thinning viscosity, very good anti-settling and sag control, across a wide range of application temperatures, without increasing the mid-shear-rate viscosity significantly. Imparts very good spraying properties and aluminium pigment alignment. Gives smooth film-appearance. Does not impair gloss. Offers fast drying. <br>
Applications: automotive base-coats, general industrial systems, metallic-pigmented paints, and metallic base-coats and stoving enamels. <br>
Use level: 0.5–2.0% by weight in the formulation.
