This new rheological additive makes the formulation and manufacture of paints containing aliphatic solvents significantly easier, faster and more trouble free. BENTONE SD-1 additive gives all of the well known paint properties of BENTONE ® 34 and BENTONE 38 additives with greatly simplified procedures. This new rheological additive gives greater plant flexibility and efficiency, with time, energy and raw material cost savings possible. BENTONE SD-1 additive is a cost effective replacement for conventional organoclays. Easy to use Full and consistent development of rheological additive efficiency Simplifies paint making Eliminates pregels Eliminates need for polar activators Disperses fully under low shear conditions Can be added at any point in the manufacturing process Simplifies post correction of viscosity and sag BENTONE SD-1 additive is an efficient replacement for BENTONE 34 and 38 additives in coatings containing aliphatic solvents (mineral spirits, VM&P naphtha, etc.) trade sales paints, wood stains, varnishes, light industrial finishes, traffic paints, industrial maintenance paints and marine coatings. When non-aliphatic solvents are present, the effectiveness and ease of dispersion of BENTONE SD-1 additive depends upon the system, and must be evaluated. Do not post add to systems containing primarily aromatic solvents. BENTONE SD-1 rheological additive is a system, rather than a solvent thickener and is not suitable for lubricating greases and similar binderless products.
