It efficiently wets and deflocculates most organic and inorganic pigments and then stabilizes the finished dispersion to prevent both hard settling and reagglomeration. Compatibility and effectiveness Disperse-Ayd 1 is fully compatible with many non-aqueous vehicles, including medium-oil alkyds, epoxy esters, oil- and alkyd-modified urethanes, and raw and bodied oils. It is sufficiently compatible with short-oil alkyds, epoxies, chlorinated rubber, nitrocellulose and acrylics to permit trouble-free use in limited quantities with any industrial system. Disperse-Ayd 1 is effective at all usage levels. Pigment dispersions in many of the vehicles listed above can be substantially improved by replacing vehicle solids with 5% to 10% Disperse-Ayd 1. Optimum results, especially with regard to compatibility, are obtained when Disperse-Ayd 1 is used as the sole dispersing vehicle to make concentrated pigment dispersions. In plasticizers and similar non-polymer vehicles, such as DOP, DIDP or DIMP, as little as 1% to 2% Disperse-Ayd 1 will produce a marked reduction in viscosity and improved flow, allowing greatly increased pigment loading. Disperse-Ayd Multifunctional Dispersing Agents do much more than simple surfactants. Whether used as additives or as the grinding vehicles for highly concentrated dispersions, they wet and deflocculate pigments without causing foaming or adversely affecting the film properties of your finished coating. No Dispersant Conventional Dispersant Dipserse-Ayd Simple stirring wets out pigment to get ready for milling. The right Disperse-Ayd Dispersant in your waterborne or high-performance, solventborne coatings will provide: Rapid pigment wetting Good flow at high pigment loading Increased mill output Maximum tinting strength development Full chroma development Elimination of floating, flooding and rub-up Compatibility in a broad range of coatings Long-term viscosity stability Optimum initial gloss and gloss retention Elimination of hard settling Multifunctional Pigment Dispersing Agents. Wetting, dispersing and stabilizing aid for non-aqueous systems. Fully compatible with many non-aqueous vehicles, including medium-oil alkyds, epoxy esters, oil- and alkyd-modified urethanes, and raw and bodied oils. Sufficiently compatible with short-oil alkyds, epoxies, chlorinated rubber, nitrocellulose and acrylics to permit trouble-free use in limited quantities with any industrial system. Effective with titanium dioxide, yellow oxyde, phthalo blue, quinacridone red, burnt umber. Effective at all usage levels.
