Use of M-P-A 2000 X additive in industrial finishes yields superior control of pigment settling at lower additive levels than for conventional antisettling agents. When M-P-A 2000 X additive replaces M-P-A 60X additive 10 to 30% less additive is required, resulting in significant raw material savings. The easy transfer and dispersion offers manufacturing economies. M-P-A 2000 X additive must still be heat activated during the pigment dispersion stage. It prevents the formation of a difficult-to-disperse hard packed pigment cake during coating use and storage. M-P-A 2000 X additive is a versatile, antisettling agent and may be used in industrial and trade sales coatings where the xylene carrier is suitable. M-P-A 2000 X additive contributes little to the apparent package viscosity of the coating, while providing pigment antisettling. Where a higher viscosity is desired, it is advantageous to use M-P-A 2000 X additive in combination with other RHEOX additives which are designed to increase viscosity, such as THIXATROL ST, BENTONE 27 or BENTONE 28. Sufficient THIXATROL or BENTONE rheological additive should be used to give the required viscosity, and M-P-A 2000 X antisettling agent added until the desired degree of pigment settling control is achieved.
