An important feature of this catalyst is its relatively high resistance to hydrolysis. Urethane foam systems formulated with Fomrez UL-1 catalyst have been shown to remain compatible and retain their activity for periods of up to four weeks. This extended shelf life is important, since it enables preparation of larger batches for use over longer periods of time. Use of catalyst in place of DBTDL for pour-in-place applications can allow reduction of amine co-catalyst content to achieve desired longer cream time without increase in tack free and demold times. Delayed cream time helps to insure proper filling of mold cavities before the onset of foam formation. A shorter demold time is desirable to preserve the useful life of molds constructed of silicone rubber. Reduction of the amine catalyst level in DBTDL/amine co-catalyst systems generally increases not only cream time but also tack free and demold times. Dibutyltin mercaptide catalyst.
