Used as a crosslinker in systems where greater elongation is required. The resulting Si-O-Si crosslink sites are highly resistant to exposure to moisture, chemicals and UV. Siloxane crosslinks tend not to generate color and are resistant to environmental factors such as acid rain. Can function as a chain extender or crosslinker in RTV silicone sealants. Used as a monomer in vinyl/acrylic resins. It supplies two crosslink sites per silane resulting in decreased crosslink density, improving elongation performance of cured resin. Methoxy groups offer rapid hydrolysis.
