BLANOSE® Refined CMC is the sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose, which has been purified to a CMC
content of 98 % minimum. A water soluble polymer, BLANOSE Refined CMC acts as a thickener, rheology
control agent, binder, stabilizer, protective colloid, film former and water retention aid for use in a variety of
industrial applications.
To satisfy various needs of the industry BLANOSE Refined CMC is supplied in two levels of substitution (DS)
and in a large number of viscosity ranges. The specification limits for the substitution levels and the viscosity
ranges are listed below. Higher degrees of substitution give improved compatibility with other solutes in the
system.
The properties of BLANOSE Refined CMC are advantageously used in a variety of industries: in paper and
board as wet-end additive, refining aid. On the size press for solvent and grease proofing, and for the reduction
of porosity. For rheology control and water retention of coating colours. For carbonless copy paper. In textiles
as for warp sizing and in finishing. In adhesives and carpet backing compounds. Miscellaneous applications
include welding rods, plate desensitizers and fountain solutions in offset printing, water based paints, seed
coating, emulsion polymerisation, detergents, dry batteries, drilling operations and civil engineering.
