It exhibits excellent mildew resistance in a great variety of materials and formulations. Due to its unique composition, FUNGITROL® 334 can be used in both water-based and solvent-based systems. Tributyltin benzoate FUNGITROL® 334 is used as a fungicide in coatings and adhesives. In-can: For protection against in-can fungal attack, suggested use levels range from 0.04% to 0.16% of FUNGITROL® 334 based on finished wet product weight. Dry film: For mildew protection of dried films, levels of 0.2% to 0.5% of FUNGITROL® 334, based on total wet weight of product, should be used. In most cases, these use levels also meet the necessary performance requirements against Aspergillus oryzae under many government and military specifications. Some oil and oleoresinous paint formulations may inactivate organotin compounds. FUNGITROL® 334 should, therefore, be thoroughly evaluated in these systems before use in production. The wide variation in coatings formulations affects their degree of microbiological susceptibility, so the exact concentration of FUNGITROL® 334 required for adequate protection will vary with the composition of the coating. FUNGITROL® 334 may also be used in conjunction with other in-can preservatives. For specific recommendations, please contact your International Specialty Products representative. Microbiological laboratory tests can determine the level required for your particular formulation and end-use application. Tributyltin benzoate.
