M-PYROL® (N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone)
M-PYROL® is extremely resistant to hydrolysis from pH 2-10, even at elevated temperatures. Beyond these limits, hydrolysis to 4-(methylamino) butanoic acid occurs at a rate dependent on pH and temperature. A large body of chemistry has been developed on the reactions of strong nucleophiles with M-PYROL®.

Hygroscopic, biodegradable methylpyrrolidone. Used as a polyamide-imide diluent for wire enamel coatings ans as a coalescent in latex paints. Offers low order of toxicity. Can be used as a complexing agent and a dispersion aid.
