Dispersed form of NUOCIDE® 960. Used for non-food contact adhesives, grouts, stains, caulks, sealants, joint compounds and wood preservative stains. Tetrachloroisophthalonitrile NUOCIDE® 404-D is a broad-spectrum microbicide for the control of mildew and fungi. This flowable form of NUOCIDE® 960 provides excellent performance characteristics when used as a fungicide/mildewcide in aqueous paints, coatings, adhesives, caulks, sealants, grouts, joint compounds and wood preservative stains. Thermally stable under normal storage temperatures. Chemically stable in alkaline (less than pH 9) or acidic conditions. Stable to ultraviolet radiation. Latex Emulsion Paints NUOCIDE® 404-D is a 40% active aqueous dispersion of NUOCIDE® 960. It can be added during the pigment grind operation of paint manufacture, during or after letdown, or post-added to the finished product. To ensure a uniform mixture of NUOCIDE® 404-D, gentle mixing is recommended before use. Generally, 10-25 pounds of NUOCIDE® 404-D per 100 gallons of exterior paint are sufficient for effective prevention of mildew growth on the surface of paint film. Levels of 7.5-10.0 pounds are effective in interior latex paints. NUOCIDE® 404-D is compatible with latex paints containing zinc oxide. It can be used in acrylic, vinyl-acrylic or polyvinylacetate latexes. Wood Preservative Stains NUOCIDE® 404-D can be used in above ground applications only to prevent growth of mold, mildew and wood decay fungi. Addition levels of 10 to 25 pounds per 100 gallons (1.0-2.5%) of water-based stain formulation are recommended. NUOCIDE® 404-D can be added during the pigment grind operation, during or after letdown, or post-added to a finished product. NUOCIDE® 404-D is compatible with stains containing zinc oxide. It is the responsibility of the formulator to determine the suitability of NUOCIDE® 404-D for this use and to obtain end-use product registrations. If an in-can preservative is used in combination with NUOCIDE® 404-D fungicide, the compatibility of the in-can preservative with NUOCIDE® 404-D should be evaluated. The use of NUOSEPT® 95 Preservative is recommended as the in-can preservative in combination with NUOCIDE® 404-D (Refer to International Specialty Products' NUOSEPT® 95 Preservative Product Data Bulletin).
