When used at recommended levels, NUOSEPT® 145 will provide antimicrobial protection to water-based systems. By preventing bacterial deterioration and the associated problems of viscosity loss, gas production, off-odors, discoloration and coagulation, the protected composition has increased shelf life and improved product performance. NUOSEPT® 145 offers the following advantages: Non-yellowing Is a mobile 50% aqueous solution Does not discolor in conjunction with organic mildewcides Is not temperature sensitive and can be added at any point during manufacture Has a high flash point and a low freezing point which makes storage and handling easy and trouble-free NUOSEPT® 145 will protect and preserve raw materials and finished products at use concentrations of 0.05% to 0.5% based on total weight of composition. When used at the recommended level, NUOSEPT® 145 will remain effective in the unopened can or package and throughout the wet composition's useful service life without adversely affecting the physical properties of the formulation. NUOSEPT® 145 can be added at any point in the production cycle. Good operating procedure should require the incorporation of this preservative early in the manufacturing process. The point of addition will vary with the process being conducted. The only guideline to follow is that after biocide addition, the product should not be subjected to excessively high temperatures (175 °F maximum). NUOSEPT® 145 has antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of micro-organisms including, but not limited to, those listed herein. This was established in routine laboratory testing utilizing standard microbiological techniques. The listing of various micro-organisms is provided to show the broad spectrum activity of NUOSEPT® 145 and is not to be construed as a list of organisms associated with the spoilage of any water-based system.
