NUOSEPT® 44
Aqueous solution of sodium hydroxymethylglycinate
NUOSEPT® 44 Preservative is a 50% aqueous solution of Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate designed for use as a preservative in water-based products. NUOSEPT® 44 Preservative effectively prevents deterioration and spoilage during the manufacture, storage and service of products such as latex paints, latex emulsions, pigment dispersions and slurries, inks, adhesives (particularly effective in starch based adhesives), joint compounds, caulks, sealants, polishes and textile emulsions, car care products, lubricants and pulp and paper.
Derived from Glycine, a naturally occurring amino acid.

Water based products are susceptible to microbial attack unless a functional preservative is used at the proper concentration. Nuosept® 44 has been specifically designed to offer protection to susceptible raw materials, as well as finished products during its service life. Our experience suggests that levels of Nuosept® 44 between 0.05 - 0.5 % by weight in the final formulation will protect various aqueous products. The amount of Nuosept® 44 preservative required to provide adequate protection to a formulation depends upon the microbiological susceptibility of an individual product and is recommended that several levels of Nuosept® 44 be tested in the product to select appropriate use levels. For specific recommendations, or to arrange for microbiological testing of your product to determine optimum use levels, contact your International Specialty Products representative.
Nuosept® 44 can be added at any point in the production cycle. It is recommended, however, that Nuosept® 44 be added as soon as possible in the manufacturing process. This will assure good distribution and provide antibacterial activity to the formulation at an early stage.
