Allyl alcohol is a clear, colorless liquid with a sharp, mustard-like odor. It is highly toxic and requires special handling procedures. As a chemical intermediate, it is used in the production of a number of specialty materials including the family of Lyondell products .
It is used in the production of allyl diglycol carbonate, allyl glycydial ether, allyl methacrylate and triallyl cyanurate.
