It is completely miscible with many organic solvents and has good solvency for a number of substances. ARCOSOLV PTB and blends are substitutes for many ethylene glycol (E-series) ethers including butoxyethanol (EB). Coatings: ARCOSOLV PTB has applications in many coating systems, especially as an effective substitute for ethylene glycol butyl ether (EB). It has excellent solvency characteristics as a coupling agent. ARCOSOLV PTB has a significant advantage over other solvents. It has a secondary hydroxy group which is less likely to react with an ester than the primary hydroxy group of ethylene glycol based ethers Cleaners: In general, ARCOSOLV PTB offers better coupling ability and higher electrolyte solubility than EB. ARCOSOLV PTB has been tested and found to be very effective in a variety of cleaner formulations including glass and hard-surface cleaners.
