ALCOGUM L-255 is an acrylate-based emulsion copolymer supplied at 30% active solids in water. This product is part of a unique line of hydrophobically modified, alkali soluble emulsion polymers typically referred to as HASE thickeners. ALCOGUM L-255 allows fine control of the polymer structure and molecular weight to meet the specific rheology and water retention requirements of the paper and paperboard coating industries. Control of these properties can have a positive effect on runnability and surface properties. ALCOGUM L-255 was developed for use in lightweight coating formulations that require additional water retention and reduced blade pressure for improved coater runnability.
It possesses liquid for ease of handling and metering, effecient viscosity build in LWC coatings, provides water retention, shear thinning flow characteristics, maintains viscosity at elevated temperatures.
