The high-refractive index and excellent scratch resistance SUNCOLLOID gives to coatings, makes it the perfect choice for plastic lenses and glasses. SUNCOLLOID is compatible with many different resins. It is also used to improve the quality of plastics, films, paints, varnishes, inks, adhesives and has many other applications. SUNCOLLOID AMT-130S is colloidal antimony pentoxide dispersed in methanol. The product is compatible with water and alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol and hydrophilic solvents such as methylcellosolve, ethylcellosolve, DMF and DMAC in any ratio. Since colloidal antimony pentoxide is negatively charged it is compatible with anionic and non-ionic surfactants. The pH of the sol can be controlled by the addition of amine or acid. If the sol is not diluted the additions will result in a viscosity increase. SUNCOLLOID AMT-130S consists of extremely fine particles of colloidal antimony pentoxide. It has a high refractive index and imparts good abrasion resistance to coatings. The sol has excellent dispersability and can give coatings good chemical and solvent resistance. As a result when it is added to an organic polymer it can improve the mechanical and optical properties of the polymer. Antimony pentoxide is also useful as a flame retardant and can be used in conjunction with holgenated resins and flame retardants. The hydrolysis of SUNCOLLOID AMT-130S and an organic coupling agent will produce an excellent coating agent for plastic lenses. The coating will have a higher refractive index and better abrasion resistance without impairing transparency. If it is necessary to lower the pH oxycarbonic acid is very effective. Nanoparticle of colloidal antimony pentoxide dispersed in methanol. Used to give high-refractive index and very good scratch and abrasion resistance to coatings, paints, varnishes and inks.
